School holiday activities
With the school holidays fast approaching, it can be a challenge to keep the kids entertained without breaking the bank.
Here are 10 ideas to help you survive these school holidays without spending too much money:
1. A movie treat
A cinema trip can be expensive so create your own cinema experience at home.

2. An adventure
Pack the family in the car and take a day trip to the nearest beach or park. Pack a picnic, the cricket set and head out for a day of adventure and exploration.
3. A museum
A museum is a great way to get your children's brains into action. Most museums are free and always have great exhibits for those who love dinosaurs, history, science and lots more!
4. Local libraries
Many local libraries regularly hold free holiday events for kids, check with your nearest library for details.
5. Cooking at home
Get stuck into the kitchen and help teach your kids the art of cooking. For the little ones, why not help them to create some no-cook play dough. For those a little older, why not try their hand at making morning tea snacks you can freeze to put in their lunchbox when school starts.

6. Paint outside
Painting can be messy, but painting outside on a nice day is heaps of fun and you can hose them down afterwards. Try finger painting or even paint a fence with water.
7. Learning at home

8. Free in-store activities
Check out your local shopping mall for free in-store activities plus a chance meet and greet their favourite characters.
9. The Zoo
why not take them to the zoo to see some real little monkeys? As tickets can be costly but keep an eye out for 2for1 deals, or go with another adult and child and share the cost of a family pass.
10. Go camping
A camping adventure is great fun for children. If your tight on funds, you can even do it in your back garden.
