About me
My name is Philippa, I’m a mother of two young boys called River and Tristan.
My youngest son Tristan has an Immune deficiency, Epilepsy, Speech delays and a Vision impairment.
Tristan is a sensory seeker and loves to touch and explore whatever he can get his hands on.
Finding sensory and tactile products for play and therapy was difficult and time consuming, as well as expensive. So i started to make my own Touch and Feel nursery rhyme boards and tactile routine sets. Tristan absolutely loved them and he gained so much from them, learning as he explored. I wanted to share my idea's with others so i created The Sensory Child in 2015.
My aim was to create a place where parents, friends, teachers and therapists of children with or without special needs can easily shop for a product that is aimed to help children develop sensory awareness as well as motor, language and cognitive development.
As well as being a full time mum and running my online shop, i also ran a playgroup for Miracle Babies (a charity for Premature and Sick babies) for 2 years which i loved.
After finishing this venture i decided to combine my passions and branch out, offering Sensory and Messy play parties.
Along with my playgroup experience, I have a valid Working with Children Card, Police clearance, a First Aid Certificate and Public Liability Insurance. Copies of which are available upon request.
