Why sensory toys are important?

Sensory and tactile toys benefit all children; they help their motor skills, creativity, social and developmental skills.

Our toys invite children to touch them, to manipulate and explore them. All these actions stimulate sensors deep within the muscles and joints that encourage a child’s awareness of their body.

Sensory play experiences may also help children to regulate stress. By offering your child our song boards and routine board sets, you are creating repetition and recognition.

Our nursery rhymes are perfect for teaching rhyme, phonetic awareness, spelling and word recognition. Even at a young age, it provides a backbone to enhancing early literacy skills.

Children, especially toddlers, feel a great deal of delight in doing the same thing over and over. A predictable pattern empowers children with the knowledge of what is going to happen next.

Our goal at The Sensory Child is for our song boards and routine boards to be recognized by the child using the tactile object, either through touch or sight. A child then can choose between the boards, by using their senses. Feeling some control over their environment, your child will feel successful, and experience a sense of mastery, both of which are important for self-esteem.

Using our products as part of your daily routine, you can focus on the repetition benefits. These can include; cause and effect, remembering information and building memory, feeling successful, building trust and a sense of security. The more they repeat the action, the more they learn.

As parents, we should equip ourselves with an understanding about the particular play needs of our children and how they use these experiences to facilitate their development.
